Quincy Jones: “The Jackson Family Never Thanked Me for Doing What Me and Michael Did” REALLY???? Huh!!!

A couple of days ago, legendary producer Quincy Jones spoke with entertainment blogger, Roger Friedman in an interview about Michael Jackson and the new album that will be out in December. He discusses with Friedman about the music that he and Michael Jackson recorded during their collaboration together in the late 70’s and 80’s. During the interview, Friedman discusses Joe Jackson’s comment about how he use to attend every recording session that his son had ever done in his career. However contrary to what Joe says during the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Quincy accuses Joe Jackson of being a liar.  Quincy was reluctant to say anything further about Joe, even when Friedman asked him of his opinion about Joe by saying that “he pleads the 5th” on the question. Although Quincy was reluctant to answer the question, he was however willing to ask that same question to Mr. Friedman. Friedman, known for mostly sensationalizing and distorting with his stories that are biased and full pompous narcissism did not hold anything back when it came to Joe. Calling him a horrible father and telling Jones that he did think much about the man.

However, that part of the interview did not bother me. As a matter of fact, I was not totally disappointed in the interview itself. What did catch my attention was how Quincy was still in this bitter and egomaniacal state of mind, where he thinks he wasn’t being thanked enough for the history that he and Michael Jackson had made during their collaboration together. He feels that Jacksons should be thanking him for what conspired during him and Michael’s collaboration on his three albums. There is no doubt that Quincy Jones should get credit for the beauty that became Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. Music producers are like film directors in many ways, they do put in a great deal of work when it comes to the “tapestry” of the sound, beat, range and setting the right kind of tone or emotion into an album and that is something that Quincy should be accredited for in regards to the litany of work that he has done or accomplished in his nearly 60 year career.

Despite any of that, one gets the sarcastic sense of Quincy Jones, a 27 to 30 time Grammy winner, an honorary Oscar recipient who has been a recipient of other awards in his career is SAD. All because Michael Jackson’s family did not give him any credit for doing an album that did not comprise of none of the Jackson family during him and Michael’s sessions in the studio together. Others get the sense that Quincy is being a bit of a narcissistic old CRY- BABY who needs his grandpa-diapers changed, because Michael Jackson’s family did not thank him on their knees for supposedly making Michael what he had ultimately became. Quite honestly, it seems that I fit with the category of those who think that he is just being F%#$%&* CRY-BABY and over-zealously conceited. For some reason, he feels that The Jackson family owes him something for the success the Jackson family has accumulated over their 45 plus years of success of being in the entertainment industry.

What Quincy needs is dose of a reality check. Someone to “DE’flate” that well deserving, but arrogantly self-righteous ego of his, Jones should be thankful that Michael, (you know: the guy who he originally collaborated with- not the entire clan!) had mustered up some confidence in his blossoming youth and asked you about finding some producers for his upcoming project and Quincy took it upon himself to take Michael under his wing and the both of you ended up showing one another what kind of geniuses that they both were in which, turned into one of the greatest collaborations in entertainment history.

Both of these men and the others who were in that studio who had worked their magic at the commands of the producer (Quincy) and the executive-producer (Michael) changed the architecture of the entertainment industry as we know it today. Besides, Michael, during his lifetime on this earth, made it his business to always accredit Quincy and others during that era that they had collaborated with for creating such beautiful music. So, it is logical for one to accept the accreditation from the one who pretty much started all of this, when he mustered up his shy little courage back in late 70’s, while the both of them were doing a movie (The Wiz) and asked about finding some producers for his upcoming project and then used that youthful courage of his to fight music executives to add Quincy Jones to the project. Apparently, Quincy should be the one thanking Michael now. Although no longer with us, Michael should be given thanks by Quincy and those who collaborated on this great body of work that he has left us with. So Quincy Delight Jones, I and other, particularly Michael’s fans, think that you should have the sincere delight of knocking your ego down and notch or “three” and have the “Delight” of giving Michael Jackson the credit that he has been giving you all too much.

Furthermore with that said, I pretty much would doubt that the family would want to say anything to you. Because in the past, you derided the person you called “your little brother”, practically calling him a liar in regards to his skin ailments and auto immune issues, only throwing more wood into the fire of tabloid journalism and derided his orphaned children because they did not look up to par of being of African American descent. One must say, with all of the white women that Quincy has consorted and reproduced with, he would have a speckle of humility and respect or an understanding about genetics. But, what can one expect from someone who is nearly in their 80’s and do not still know how to drive a car. Hey, Stevie Wonder has been blind since birth and he has a Bentley he sometimes drives on an air field for enjoyment. Yes, I took it there. As for the Jackson family owing him anything, I must say the only thing that family owes is ZNZ (zilches, nada, zero). If that was my family member that you had derided just after his death in those interviews, I would have stomped a mud hole in your bunghole. In other words Quincy Delight Jones, thank you for your contributions as an artist and a trailblazer in your field, but at the same time, SHUT THE F@$% UP and stop being a CRY-BABY.
